The Baker and Bubby

Katie and her son, Jack (aka Bubby).
Motown Freedom Bakery is the creation of Katie Kolbus, a certified Holistic Health Coach and avid allergen-friendly baker.
Katie, like many of her customers, experienced health issues, including digestive problems for many years. Although she sought answers, no one could provide lasting relief of her symptoms or explain why she was suffering.
It wasn't until Katie was introduced to natural healing and holisitic nutrition that answers started to come. Upon recommendations from alternative practitioners, Katie began to remove certain foods from her diet, specifically gluten and dairy.
It wasn't long before she started to notice a difference in how she felt.
Soon after, she enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, located in New York City. Upon graduating from IIN in 2007 with a certification in Holistic Health Coaching, Katie began to share her experience with others who were suffering. She encouraged people to do as she did and remove suspect foods from their diet. But she found many were concerned that they would never again be able to eat their favorite foods.
So Katie began to experiment with new recipes of her favorite treats to prove to herself and others that tasty eats and treats were still possible, even without "normal" ingredients. Family and friends became guinea pigs, reluctantly at first but that soon changed. Everyone loved the baked goods and encouraged Katie to turn her passion into a career. It wasn't until several years later that Katie finally heeded their advice.
Motown Freedom Bakery became a reality in the Fall of 2011. In an effort to meet the needs of those who suffer with multiple food allergies, Katie redesigned many recipes and created new ones that omitted even more traditional ingredients like eggs, corn, soy and refined sugars. Katie also wanted to incorporate her passion for holistic nutrition into her baking, so MFB's baked goods contain wholesome, natural ingredients and absolutely no chemicals, artificial or unpronounceable ingredients and food dyes.
It is Katie's mission through Motown Freedom Bakery to provide delicious and healthy allergen-friendly sweets and treats for all!
Katie resides in Farmington Hills, Michigan with her loving and supportive husband and their happy and energetic son, Jack.
